A Day of Beauty, Choice and Community
On August 14, six Kindness Kits volunteers spent a morning at the Downtown Women’s Shelter in North Hollywood offering beauty bags, nail-polish kits and manicures, with every resident choosing what felt right for her.

On August 14, 2026, Kindness Kits brought together 6 volunteers at the Downtown Women’s Shelter in North Hollywood for a joyful day centered on care, connection and personal choice.
Residents were invited to select nail-polish kits along with beauty bags filled with skincare, hair care and nail care essentials. Each guest had the freedom to choose products that reflected her individual needs and preferences; because everyone deserves access to items that help them feel comfortable, confident and like themselves.
The experience went beyond distributing products. Our volunteers provided manicures and personalized nail designs for 5 shelter residents, with each participant choosing the colors and designs they wanted. The room was filled with creativity, conversation and plenty of fresh-nail moments!
Breakfast and beverages were also available throughout the event, creating a welcoming space where residents could relax and enjoy the morning at their own pace.
At Kindness Kits, we believe hygiene and beauty products are more than everyday essentials. They can support self-expression, restore a sense of normalcy and create meaningful moments of care. Our role is to work alongside nonprofit partners to make these products more accessible while honoring the dignity, autonomy and lived experiences of every person served.
We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers and the Downtown Women’s Shelter team for helping make this day possible. Together, we supported 10 residents and created an experience rooted in choice, community and care; one beauty bag and one manicure at a time.
